| Can anyone
come out and audition for a show? What is needed? |
|
CST
holds open auditions. We encourage anyone who is interested to come and
audition.
Auditions for plays
are usually done with cold readings from the script. Musicals usually
require a prepared song. If you have a photo and resume, bring them -
otherwise, you can have a Polaroid photo taken at the audition for a $2
fee.
Back

| Is
there an age limit to audition? |
|
There
is not an age limit to audition. It just depends on the age range of the
characters and what the director is looking for.
Check
the web site about two weeks before the audition date. There should be an Audition
Notice posted which will have character information and age ranges.

| What
are the rehearsal schedules like? |
|
Rehearsal schedules vary
for different shows. Generally, rehearsals start about 4 to 6 weeks before
the show opens. Usually, rehearsals are held Monday through Friday from 7 to
10 p.m., but the director will decide the schedule based
on everyone's availability. Musicals
almost always rehearse for six weeks - usually starting with a week
dedicated to learning the music. Plays tend more to 4 or 5-week rehearsal
schedules.
Directors
try to plan the schedule so that only the actors in the scene being
rehearsed are called. Actors with smaller roles won't necessarily have to
attend every rehearsal.
At
auditions, the directors will want to know about any conflicts so they can
plan the schedule accordingly.

| Are
the actors paid? |
|
CST
is a non-profit community theatre. Our actors
receive a small stipend and complimentary tickets as a
way of saying thanks for their time and effort in helping us produce our
shows. Many of our actors volunteer with other area theatres as well.
