We love
Hollywood for its great auteurs, its glorious faces and its powerful images, but
in this tabloid age, what we really love is all that dish! At any moment, the
private life of the main character of THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED could ignite a
media firestorm.
This Broadway
and Off-Broadway hit of 2006 follows the adventures of Mitchell Green, a
handsome young movie actor who is on the verge of major stardom. Having recently
won a film award, Mitchell is a budding screen idol who has more in common with
Rock Hudson than his ruggedly charming good looks. You see, all of his photo ops
with beautiful starlets will not mean a thing, if he steps out of the closet due
to his "slight recurring case of homosexuality."
When
Mitchell and his shark of an agent, Diane, head to New York to cut a deal for
turning a play into a movie starring Mitchell, he meets Alex, a young hustler,
and in short order, Mitchell falls in love and is ready to throw open his closet
door. To complicate things more, it turns out that Alex has a girlfriend and is
confused by his feelings for Mitchell.
All the
while, Diane tries her best to bolt Mitchell’s closet door, thinking she’ll
protect his leading man image and keep her meal ticket on the fast track to
superstardom. It’s anybody’s guess as to whether there will be a happy ending
before the final credits roll.
For mature audiences only.
